The Marcus Parsley Quartet ~ Soul Jazz and Organ Grooves
August 4 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The Marcus Parsley Quartet Presents: Soul Jazz and Organ Grooves
A 60’s-styled, funky, upbeat concert featuring Trumpet, Saxophone, B-3 Organ and Drums.
After fourteen years in New York City performing, touring, and recording with an array of jazz and soul music notables, Marcus Parsley has returned home to Jacksonville, Florida. During a recent break from touring with swamp-rock-guru JJ Grey, Parsley formed this Hammond-organ-driven quartet. This quartet represents an effort to entwine the worlds of jazz and soul music with a group that features a cast of musicians possessing a seasoned forbearance in both idioms.
Hailing from Memphis Tennessee, saxophonist Art Edmaiston has traveled the globe accompanying a long list of legendary performers including, Greg Allman, Bobby Bland, Levon Helm, Dr. John, JJ Grey and so many more. Art intrepidly navigates the musical waters connecting the continents of Jazz and Soul.
Organ specialist Adam Scone’s playing is so sought after by music producers he has appeared on over fifty albums and counting. His ability to wring soulful magic from the keys of a Hammond organ has afforded him the opportunity to perform or record with the likes of Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Cobb, Sharon Jones, Lee Fields, JJ Grey and countless others.
Watching drummer Peter Miles perform is sometimes misleading to the casual observer – as he appears so natural and effortless while executing nearly impossible rhythmic passages. Don’t be fooled. There are myriad reason why artists such as Marcus Printup, Bunky Green, Ben Tucker, Doug Wamble and a host of others have asked Peter to round out their ensembles on great stages around the world.
MUSIC CHARGE: $15.00
